The Director, Strategic Sourcing will lead the team responsible for American’s relationships with all Hotel, Travel, Uniform and Training suppliers throughout the entire lifecycle, including sourcing, procurement, negotiations, contract management, relationship and performance management. Reporting to the Chief Procurement Officer, and working closely with the SVPs of Flight Operations and Inflight and their teams, the candidate will have the mandate to optimize cost, cash and supplier performance, in order to maximize value and mitigate risk for the company.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Demonstrates the highest level of ethics and integrity
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience required in Business, Supply Chain, Finance, or related field
7 years of leadership experience
10 years of experience with supplier relationship management, negotiations, contract management, project management, and process improvement
Strong negotiation skills, with experience crafting strategic partnerships; capable of restructuring major partnerships when warranted
Expert level knowledge of the Hotel supply market with proven experience in managing complex requirements and contracts
Action oriented, results-driven leader with a natural aptitude for engaging employees, colleagues, stakeholders and suppliers
Proven experience leading broad organizational change and transformation
Demonstrated ability to solve, and to lead others in solving, complex analytical problems
Ability to think strategically, negotiate skillfully, digest complex details, and use sound judgment and initiative in making decisions
Ability to influence through outstanding interpersonal skills and build collaborative relationships with multiple stakeholders with varying points of view
Ability to build and facilitate relationships at all levels of the organization, both internally and externally
Ability to be flexible in rapidly changing conditions and priorities, and to redirect managers and teams toward new ideas and approaches in work methods
Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills, with ability to handle complex topics comfortably and to interact effectively with all levels, internally and externally, both verbally and written
